29 March New Windsor Parks Closed Until Further Notice March 29, 2020 By Patrick Mangan General 0 Effective at 8am on Monday, March 30th, all New Windsor Parks will be closed to the public until further notice. Basketball rims have been removed and tennis courts have been locked. Supervisor Meyers has been forced to take this further action based on large groups of people not observing the social distancing guidelines set by New York State at our parks. New Windsor Police and Recreation Staff will monitor parks to enforce this closure. If you have received a suspension notice from DMV with an effective suspension date during the time of the courts closure, those suspensions have either been lifted or removed. If you are concerned about an unpaid fine please know the court will NOT be enforcing any penalties to unpaid fines during the courts closure. We will be extending payments a minimum of 30 days from the courts re-opening. Town Parks Closed 8/5 & 8/6 due to Tropical Storm All Town Parks will be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to extensive damage from the tropical storm. Our Building and Grounds personnel will be working to remove debris and clean up the parks. New Windsor cancelling outside group meetings in New Windsor owned buildings Supervisor Meyers and New Windsor staff attended a conference call with Orange County Officials today regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. There are currently three confirmed cases in Orange County. Orange County is recommending all school districts close for two weeks, starting on Monday. For Orange County residents wanting to report cases of price gauging on supplies related to this situation, please contact the Orange County Consumer Affairs Office at (845) 360-6700. Employees will be available daily between 10am and 4pm to conduct business via phone, email and website. There is also a mail slot in the front door of town hall that is available for correspondence. Online services are available 24 hours a day at newwindsor-ny.gov. These include online utility bill payments, court fines and fees payments, online FOIL requests, online mapping, and more on our website. On Friday March 20 Town Hall and Recreation Offices will be closed for a deep cleaning and sanitization. Monday March 23 through Friday March 27, Town Hall and Recreation offices will be closed to the public, with employees available from 10am and 4pm to conduct business via phone, email and website. In addition, Supervisor Meyers is declaring a State of Emergency in the Town of New Windsor. THIS IS ONLY A FORMALITY, to ensure the Town is eligible for reimbursement for expenses occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it also removes restrictions on the bidding process.
