Moody's Investors Service Credit Analysis of the Town of New Windsor The Town of New Windsor, NY's (Aa3) credit profile benefits from its moderately-sized, growing tax base located in Orange County (Aa2 stable) with above average resident wealth and income. The town's financial position remains strong and management anticipates running an operating surplus for fiscal 2022. This helps to offset its elevated long-term liabilities, mainly driven by a high OPEB liability. The debt burden will remain manageable despite the expected increase over the next 3 years. Supervisor Meyers Announces Bicycle Patrol Unit Resuming Operation effective May 1st Supervisor Meyers announced today that effective May 1st the Town of New Windsor Police Department’s Bicycle Patrol Unit will resume operation throughout our town. This unit will be on patrol in our numerous housing developments for the remainder of the spring and summer months. The Bicycle Patrol Unit is part of our community policing endeavor and will not only make our town safer, but it will put our officers in direct contact with our residents in town. The Town Board established this unit last year in hopes of increasing interaction between the police and the community. The feedback last year was very positive from both the officers assigned to the unit and the residents. If you see them riding by in the upcoming months, stop them and say hello! New Windsor awarded two grants totaling $15,500,000 Supervisor Meyers is pleased to announce that the Town of New Windsor has been advised by New York State that the town has been awarded two grants totaling approximately $15,500,000. One grant was awarded by the state for the ongoing expansion and upgrading of the town’s wastewater treatment plant and the other grant was awarded for upgrading one of our buildings used by our senior citizens. The wastewater treatment grant of $15,000,000 is going to have a positive impact for our taxpayers in the town’s sewer districts. The second grant of $500,000 will be used for repairs and upgrades of the Marasco Center building utilized by our senior citizens. I want to acknowledge all the hard work by our staff in putting together the necessary grant applications and in particular our town attorney’s office and the town’s engineer Mike Weeks from McGoey, Hauser and Edsall Engineering. Job well done by all! April 20, 2022 By Patrick Mangan General 0 Comment Read More >>
