New Windsor Police Chief Graduates Prestigious FBI National Academy The Town of New Windsor Police Department is proud to announce that Chief Robert L. Doss has recently graduated from the 277th Session of the prestigious FBI National Academy. The 277th Session of the National Academy consisted of 256 men and women from all 50 states and 35 different countries. The FBI National Academy is our nation’s premier law enforcement leadership training institution that less than 1 percent of all Law Enforcement Officers in the United States ever get invited to attend. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico Virginia, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts. The 10-week National Academy program provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science. It serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide. National Academy students earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered. While FBI Director Christopher Wray delivered the keynote remarks at the graduation ceremony, FBI Academy instructors, special agents and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training. Chief Doss is a 22-year member of the New Windsor Police Department who worked his way up through the ranks to become Chief of Police in 2018. ****Pictured in the photo is FBI Director Christopher Wray (L) and Chief Robert Doss (R)**** Town of New Windsor Welcomes First-Ever Student Intern to the Supervisor’s Office NEW WINDSOR, NY — On Thursday, October 29, the Town of New Windsor Supervisor’s Office, led by Supervisor Stephen A. Bedetti, welcomed its first-ever student intern through a partnership with the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. Daniela Bustillo, a 12th-grade student at Newburgh Free Academy (NFA) West, has joined the Supervisor’s Office as part of an educational internship program designed to provide students with firsthand exposure to local government and public service. Daniela has expressed an interest in international relations, government and public service, diplomacy, and local community involvement. The internship will give her an opportunity to learn more about how municipal government operates, how local decisions are made, and how elected officials and town employees work together to serve residents. “When I was contacted by the Newburgh School District about this program, I immediately jumped at the opportunity,” said Supervisor Bedetti. “I believe it is important to get our young people involved in government and help them understand how local government works. These students are the future of our communities, and providing them with opportunities to learn about public service firsthand can make a lasting impression.” The internship will take place on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. throughout the remainder of the school year. During that time, Daniela will gain insight into the daily responsibilities of the Supervisor’s Office and the many functions and services provided by the Town of New Windsor. At the conclusion of the program, Daniela will prepare a presentation for her teacher reflecting on her experience and what she has learned throughout the internship. “I am excited to be part of this program and look forward to seeing Daniela grow and learn during her time with us,” Bedetti added. “I am especially looking forward to her final presentation and hearing about her experience. I hope this opportunity gives her a better understanding of local government and encourages her to continue pursuing her interests in public service.” The Town of New Windsor is pleased to participate in this educational initiative and looks forward to continuing to provide opportunities for local students to learn about municipal government, community involvement, and the importance of public service. Supervisor Bedetti also encouraged residents to take an active interest in their local government by visiting the Supervisor’s Office to learn firsthand how the Town operates. “While this internship is a great opportunity for a student, I want the public to know that my office is open to residents who are interested in learning more about their local government,” said Bedetti. “If you have ever wondered how decisions are made, how town operations work, or what goes on behind the scenes, I encourage you to call my office and arrange a time to stop in. I welcome the opportunity to show residents what we do and answer questions about how their town government serves the community.” Comments are closed.
