Notice of Water Service Shutdown & Boil Water Advisory: September 26

Due to a leak repair / valve replacement water service will be interrupted on Monday, September 26 from appoximately 9am to 4pm for: Vails Gate Heights Dr, Old Forge Hill Rd, Mountain View Village, and Big V Plaza.

The boil water notice below will go into affect AFTER the work is completed on Monday.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TOWN OF NEW WINDSOR

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the TOWN OF NEW WINDSOR will hold a public hearing on the 5th day of October, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in Town Hall, 555 Union Avenue, New Windsor, New York, to consider a Local Law Amending Chapter 300, Article III, Section 300-8 (Table of Uses/Bulk Requirements for the R-1 Zoning District) and Article XVI, Section 300-89 (b) (Definitions) of the Zoning Code of the Town of New Windsor, which would create a definition of agricultural tourism and revise the Rural Residential (R-1) Table of Use/Bulk Regulations to permit 1-story buildings for display and sale of agricultural and nursery products grown primarily on the premises; farm to table restaurants; catering services associated with on-site events; tasting rooms; and/or buildings/tents/land designated for hosting of agritourism events and activities, including weddings and other large social gatherings; and employee and/or intern housing where the principal use of the site is agricultural and/or agritourism.

The local law, as proposed, may be reviewed in the Town Clerk’s Office during regular working hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Notice of Special Election - Vails Gate Fire District

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION

VAILS GATE FIRE DISTRICT, IN THE
TOWNS OF NEW WINDSOR AND CORNWALL,
ORANGE COUNTY, NEW YORK

October 11, 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Election of the qualified voters of the Vails Gate Fire District (hereinafter called the “Fire District”), in the Towns of New Windsor and Cornwall, Orange County, New York, will be held at the Vails Gate Firehouse located on Route 94 (Blooming Grove Turnpike), Vails Gate, New York, in said Fire District, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. The polls shall open at 6:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time) and shall remain open until 9:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time) or as much longer as may be necessary to enable the voters then present to cast their votes.

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to the resolutions adopted by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Fire District on September 7, 2022, the following two Propositions will be submitted to the qualified voters of the Fire District for approval or disapproval:

PROPOSITION #1

SHALL the bond resolution of Vails Gate Fire District, in the Towns of New
Windsor and Cornwall, Orange County, New York, entitled: “BOND
RESOLUTION OF THE VAILS GATE FIRE DISTRICT (“FIRE DISTRICT”),
IN THE TOWN OF NEW WINDSOR, NEW YORK, ADOPTED SEPTEMBER
7, 2022, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE TRUCK, INCLUDING
EQUIPMENT AND APPARATUS USED IN CONNECTION THEREWITH,
FOR USE BY THE FIRE DISTRICT; STATING THE ESTIMATED
MAXIMUM COST THEREOF IS NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000,
INCLUDING COSTS INCIDENTAL THERETO AND TO THE FINANCING
THEREOF; APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT FOR SUCH PURPOSE;
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE FIRE DISTRICT IN
THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000 TO
FINANCE SAID APPROPRIATION; DETERMINING THAT THE PERIOD
OF PROBABLE USEFULNESS OF THE OBJECT OR PURPOSE FOR
WHICH SAID BONDS ARE AUTHORIZED TO BE ISSUED IS TWENTY
(20) YEARS; DETERMINING THAT, PURSUANT TO THE STATE
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY REVIEW ACT ("SEQRA"), THE
ACQUISITION OF SAID TRUCK IS A TYPE II ACTION AND DOES NOT
REQUIRE ANY FURTHER REVIEW AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY
OF TAXES TO BE COLLECTED TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF AND
INTEREST ON SAID BONDS,” BE APPROVED?


PROPOSITION #2
“RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VAILS
GATE FIRE DISTRICT, IN THE TOWNS OF NEW WINDSOR AND
CORNWALL, ORANGE COUNTY, NEW YORK (THE “DISTRICT”),
AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A 2003 SEAGRAVE 75’ MEANSTICK
FIRETRUCK WHICH HAS BEEN DECLARED AS SURPLUS APPARATUS
FOR A SUM IN EXCESS OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($100,000)
DOLLARS,” BE APPROVED?

All residents of the Fire District who were duly registered to vote with the Orange County Board of Elections on or before September 19, 2022, shall be eligible to vote at said Special Election.

Police Chief Robert Doss Recognized for 25 Years of Service

Supervisor Meyers presented the town’s Police Chief Robert Doss with a certificate recognizing his twenty-five (25) years of service as a sworn police officer with the Town of New Windsor.

Supervisor Meyers and the Town Board are very appreciative of the leadership Chief Doss has provided for our exceptional Police Department during his four (4) year term as our Police Chief.
